Star Breeze underwent Windstar’s $250 Million Star Plus Initiative, in which the ship was stretched (84 feet were added) and underwent a re-engine in 2020. As part of the Star Plus Initiative, Star Breeze received 50 additional and brand-new suites (including two new Owner’s Suites) and new bathrooms/sliding glass balcony doors for existing suites. Additionally, the pool was enlarged, the spa was redesigned, and new restaurants and a casual BBQ venue were added, along with new retail shops and a larger fitness center. The ship also received a more fuel-efficient engine system. Since Star Breeze was enlarged, Windstar hired additional staff to maintain the cruise line’s fabulous 1.5:1 guest-to-staff ratio.
